Collect Music Royalties with FILSCAP

The Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP) is a non-stock, non-profit association of composers, lyric-writers and music publishers established to administer the public performance, mechanical reproduction, and synchronization rights granted by law to creators and owners of original musical works. Their reciprocal agreements with Foreign Societies ensure that your works are protected in other countries. As a member, you can register your songs, receive royalty payments, seek legal assistance, and attend workshops and seminars. In addition, their nominal application fee and/or annual membership fee is deducted from your collected royalties.Ę

What is Music Publishing?

Music Publishing is the business of protecting and promoting song copyrights and collecting the royalties that these copyrights generate. Think of a song as intellectual property (it's an original piece of art!), and music publishing as the business that makes sure that songwriters get paid a fair compensation when their intellectual property is used by companies. Those companies could be record labels (mechanical royalties), radio stations, bars, and restaurants (performance royalties), or film studios and advertising agencies (sync license fees), and many more.
